Spring Break

For Spring Break this year Colleen took Hannah, Abby and Hannah's friend Chelsea on the trip of a lifetime to Montana!!! We drove and drove and drove and drove and drove and then we drove some more.

Our first stop was at The Ginkgo Petrified Forest State Park near Vantage, Washington. The girls were frightened by this man- eating dinosaur but it was held back by an amazingly small fence!

This is Chelsea. I don't know if she will ever want to go on a road trip with us again!

When I told the girls we would be traveling almost 2000 miles by the time we returned to Kent they tried to fling themselves into the Columbia river. But the cliff was only 5 feet high so I just took a picture!

We spent our first night in Gallatin Gateway, Montana with Jim's parents. We had a very nice visit. They had tons of snow. We had a very good snowball fight. But since I was involved with the snowball fight no one took pictures. You will just have to imagine it.

Our next stop was Helena, Montana. The capital of the great state of Montana.

We were given a great tour by the noted Representative from Billings, Kenneth D. Peterson.

This is a picture of the girls and Papa Ken on the House floor.

This is Papa Ken at his desk on the Floor of the House of Representatives of the Great State of Montana. Everyone said they were wondering why it was much cleaner than usual!

This is a photo of all the girls who followed Representative Peterson around all day!

These are pictures we took while we were sitting in the balcony waiting for the session to start. Once it did, it was very interesting.

The girls found a giant fireplace and had to have their picture taken in it. It is in the room that the Governor of The Great State of Montana signs bills into law.

For some reason the girls were overcome with the soap dispenser and the rest of the restroom just off the house of representatives. It was rather cool, but it was a bathroom girls!!!

After the session was over Abby played the piano for Papa Ken. Most of the Representatives were milling around. But she did very well for being as nervous as she was! She played a piano the Dad had donated money to buy last time he was in the House.

On our way to Billings, I was getting tired so we stopped at one of our favorite spots just off the freeway at the same exit as the Big Timber water slide, The Prairie Dog Town. It is always fun to listen to them and watch as they all disappear. Then you have to leave because there is nothing left to see.

Abby was able to catch a few prairie dogs and make a coat out of them!

While in Billings, Hannah had some of the best news of her life. Her dear old Dad was able to get ticket to the upcoming U2 tour. They will be attending in Vancouver, British Columbia on October 28th. She was so excited she cried!

One of everyone's favorite things to do in Billings is to sit in Grandma Cherye's recliner and let Bogie warm your toes.

On Wednesday Grandma Cherye goes to her bowling league so we joined in the fun. With bumpers of course! Chelsea got her first and second ever strikes! Hannah won both games. Everyone had fun! Their names were Bono, Taylor Swift and Ringo. Grandma and all her cronies laughed when we had to ask them where the re-set button was!

We went up to the Billings, Montana Temple to walk around and give Grandma a little alone time. It was very nice. And I am sure Grandma Cherye was happy about it!

We drove through Bozeman on the way home on Saturday April 11. There had been a big explosion in Downtown Bozeman a few weeks ago and we took a picture.

We drove directly back. We stopped twice. Once at a rest stop and once for gas and shopping at $50,000 silver dollars. Chelsea decided she likes a boy who wears a cowboy hat. Hannah is just looking forward to October (The rest of us are too, but not for the same reason). Abby is happy she made Papa Ken so happy by playing his favorite piece on the piano. I am happy we were not killed on that bridge over one of the 21 bridges over the Clark's Fork river. We had a fun Spring Break. Thanks everyone for all the good times
