What I did on Inauguration Day

I know many people sat around listening or watching all the Inauguration Happenings today. The girls both said they watched everything at school. Well, I decided to spend my Inauguration Day doing what I wanted to do! I went Skiing at Alpental. I am glad I did. I missed having my friend come with me like we had planned. I know she wishes she could have been skiing also, instead of the sad way she spent the day. So I took some pictures so she could see some of the awesome things I saw today.

This is what I saw when I got to Alpental! That is the chairlift above me. What's that? You say you can hardly see it? You are correct! I couldn't either!

This is the view from the top. Very little visibility down below. Very cold coming up the lift. But as soon as I could see a bit of sun peeking thru there was a warm breeze!

Then as I was riding up the lift I saw this scene. It looks like one of those old fashioned hand-tinted photographs. But it's not! It was the sun breaking thru the fog.

Then I saw this Celestial Vision! Well, it is really the sun peaking over the mountain thru the fog. But it looks Celestial!

This is the view from the top a few hours after I got to Alpental. It was a glorious day to ski. I enjoyed my day. I was sad to have to be alone. But I was not lonely. It is fun to ski and listen to my music and just take in all the beauty around me. Also, I can go faster when I am alone! At least it feels that way! So I was able to think about the new President. I hope his view from the top is not impeded by fog and that he will be able to see the beauty all around, whether he is expecting it or not. I try to judge people by what they do rather than by what they look like or say. He has got a hard job. May God bless him in his righteous endeavors.

no flood at our house!

This is what Snoqualmie Falls usually looks like.

This is a photo of Snoqualmie Falls on Jan. 7, 2009.

As some might have heard, all of Western Washington is underwater. Well, actually many are. But we have come through unscathed and dry. Some people were not as lucky. There were road closures of all the freeways into the area. I-5, I-90, White pass, and Stevens Pass were all closed or are still closed. The train was not running. And there are a good number of people stuck in flooded areas. The only problem we had was that all the water made skiing impossible! The days I had planned on skiing, the pass was closed and Hannah's ski club was postponed today. But that is just a little nuisance. Not even worth talking about. It started with the snow in early December and we in the Northwest have been dealing with weather issues ever since. All the snow contributed to the flooding, mud slides and avalanches. There are videos of all of the flooding and the falls on http://www.youtube.com/. Just search Snoqualmie falls or Seattle flooding. Since I can't figure out how to get them onto this, the Feltis Family blog, you will have to go that route!

They think it is cold outside.
They like playing in the snow.

Jumping off the bridge

Since everyone else is doing it, I decided I would jump off the bridge too! Oh wait, that is exactly what my mom always told me not to do! But this is such a good way of letting friends and relatives in on our Feltis Family Happenings, that I will call it a very small, close to the ground kind of bridge that I won't get hurt jumping off.

So for all of you who don't know, this is our home in the early summer. I love the flowers and green. Our house was built in 1928 and we all love it. Come visit some time! We even have an extra room.

This is our house in the winter. Actually this photo was taken just the other day, over Christmas Break 2008. There was lots of snow (for the Seattle area) and it was very cold (for the Seattle area). But now the snow is gone. The kids all had fun sledding down the driveway across the street (No they did not post anyone at the bottom of the driveway watching for cars. I guess they like to live dangerously!) and down the hill across the street.

We live in a very beautiful part of the country. There is a lot to see and do.

This is Jim, the man of the house. He is posing in a Metro tunnel in front of a billboard of his favorite store in Paris.

This is Colleen who is the Mother of this part of the Feltis Family. She got new ski clothes for Christmas, and a new hair style thanks to Tallia.

This is Jim and Colleen. They went to Paris in February. It was very, very, very wonderful. Colleen would like to move there, even if she can't speak French!

This is Tallia. She is the oldest Child. She has had a very exciting year. See that blond haired guy beside her? She met him a little over a year ago. They kind of liked each other.

She married him last June.

His name is Jon. They like to dance.
And play.

We were all happy to go to Utah and see them married in the Manti Temple.

This is Sam. He is the second oldest Child and Only Son. He works hard and visits from time to time.

This is Sam's Car. He is the only Child who drives. He drives the longest vehicle in the family.

This is Hannah. She like to to things that start with "S". Soccer, swimming, snowboarding and saxophone. (soccer photo by Tony Huss)

She also takes very nice photos.

This is Abby. She is the Youngest Child. She was very little and cute for the wedding. Now she has grown and has gotten braces!
